THANKS WEST COAST. We had a really weird time with a lot of the boring particulars behind the scenes (didn't see our appearance at either secret shows we booked the other day in the bay - with the Zero BOys or with DYS? well we secretely had our van break down on the way, sorry) but all the shows were great and we love being on that bright side of your country. If it's completely fake then it has been done by someone who follows / has followed the band.
So...
I think it's reasonable to deduce that both the person who made it and the person who bought it are slightly weird and obsessive folk; i.e. they look at this blog and read all the random comments. Maybe they sometimes post anonymous comments.
Maybe Anonymous made the record and the other Anonymous bought it. Maybe Anonymous sold it to himself.
Weirdly though, the fact that it now has a section dedicated to it on this blog has probably legitimised it as a collectable item.

ReplyDeleteThese fake records are just the full logical extension of making a motif of relying on the GI cover, which I actually support and think is a really cool look. Get the right font, get the right layout, get a weird photo/woodcut, and you're good to go.
ReplyDeleteWas psyched to see the show on Livestream last night - I sign on at 730, and theyre just looping this Vans commercial... I look at the heading on Livestream, and FU is not mentioned at all.. At like 745 the stream finally starts and you hear the singer of Pissed Jeans saying "this is our last song" ... Greaat... So then Screaming Females comes on and they showed their whole set.. Then, they get off stage and the Vans commercial comes back on.. So im thinking "ok, theyre just throwing this back on til FU comes on" ...5 minutes passes, 10, 15...i kept quitting out of my browser and restarting, same thing.. At this point i put two and two together and figured out that they never had any intention of airing their set: any mention of them playing was wiped off Livestream.. I found a link for another site (Stickcam) that was streaming the show too - same deal - they actually retouched FUs name off of the flyer that was on the Vans site...was so motherfucking pissed for staying home - im dying to know if either FU didnt consent to have their set broadcast online (doubt it) or if the site that were broadcasting the show pussied out cuz of their name... Is it still that sensitive? Would be pretty hypocritical, as the Vans spot they kept looping had a kid that was about 10 years old with his middle finger up.
