FREEdm

Hey so we're about to leave for tour again. We're all spread out over the globe so who knows what everyone else has been up to in the time off. As for me, I've been laying low writing an article about how ChemCom is basically a Justin Bieber record. I think Jonah was out east issuing fatwas.

Anyways the point of all this is that if you live in either Vancouver or Victoria, you will have a chance to see us do our jobs for free because that's just the kind of place Canada is. Then the next day in Seattle you can see us for like $100 because we are playing a festival. For the Vancouver show you have to RSVP on FACEBOOK right HERE to GET IN. Or else there will be a riot.

I can see why you call it a Bieberrecord, the similarities are just to big to ignore: brilliant sense of melody, very well produced, larger then life lyrics where you really have to dig yourself into...,
all that texture, tasty riffs, heartpumping rythms and that voice...oh so sweat.
You know we're now waiting for a new track by track-explanation, right ?

And btw: I just got ChemCom and HW in the mail yesterday (I had those stolen for a few years, but for great bands I need to have the real stuff) and I kind of get the most of it in a sort of kinda vague-ish blurry way.
Just one thing that confuses me about a part of Black Albino Bones:

rubbing stones together till the magics comes out ? Wtf ?
rubbing flesh= sex
rubbing plants= spliff/weed/reefer/sensi
rubbing stones= voodoo shit ? fire ?

Anyone got an idea ?

It is about collecting records. The song is based on this thing this guy Simon Head (ex Trigger Happy and producer of many a Toronto band's demo) used to say to my friend Zach when he described why he hated vinyl. He would say it's like cavemen rubbing two rocks together. I like the image that provided for a verse about going to a record store and throwing a 45 on by a band you have never heard of and hearing something amazing come out.

Ah thanks, I would never get that one myself.
But for me the magic comes out rather on festivals when I check new bands out.I hate buying cats in bags.
But I get what you mean though, the feeling of "why the hell doesn't everyone know about this band ?".
I had it recently with "I Spy" and Guv's releases.

Mike is always stage diving while soloing, and Sandy does lots of arm windmills. Duh.

Haha I misread that as Jonah being out somewhere eating fatwas.

Thanks for the background on the song Damian!

Joe Cornelisse obvs just switched to using anonymous and probably comments way more than he did before. He's probably me.

Mike wears a polo shirt and bounces his knee a lot which is just as cool as moshing at this point.

I'm probably worse (/better) than Joe C.And I'm not even trying that hard.

And moshing rules, the band should play inside the crowd and Mr.Jo should have wheels under his drumkit (I call the TradeMark!)
and someone with a remote to drive him around.
But I guess the quality of the music is slightly more important.

It's not really anything like two cavemen rubbing rocks together. It's more like, oh shit, THERE'S the bass. And the midrange is actually more open and pleasing. With a cd (or anything lower fidelity like an mp3/mp4 file) I will admit that the top end is sometimes a little more detailed and clear. But it comes at an expense. The midrange within digital sometimes sounds to me like the instruments are fighting each other for their own pocket of super compressed space. But on vinyl, the instruments don't fight for their places; they just sit firmly in their respective pockets doing their thing. Records are better for punk rock; all punk rock is in the midrange. I own a lot of cd's but I admit that vinyl does sound quite a bit better. I think if cd's had been pressed with gold or even copper instead of aluminum they would sound at least comparable to vinyl. I guess it hardly matters now anyway.

Fuck You Mr Head. I'm going to fucking vomit.

To be honest, when you're listening to punk rock, it doesn't make much difference, I mean I listen to Discharge and I'm not going Hmm, that bass could be a little more warm.

Truck drivers have a demanding job that sometimes makes getting good quality sleep hard. Sleep disorders in truck drivers are very common. They have many of the risk factors associated with sleep disorders including driving long distances, alone, and often at night. Long monotonous roads combined with fatigue can be dangerous for the driver and everyone else on the road.
